If you are using windows 7 or 8 you will likely see a new icon on your task bar talking about windows 10. Windows has decided to release windows 10 as a free upgrade for the next year for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.
If you are unsure about the upgrade here is what you need to know:
-Windows 10 has been in testing and development for months now to make sure that it is easy to use and that it will run smoothly.
-The Start menu is back! If you bought a windows 8 computer you may have been upset to find yourself using such a foreign operating system, windows 10 has brought back the start menu!
-The Upgrading is free. You will get a full version of windows, not just a trial so you won’t see a bill down the road
-You will keep all your files on your computer. We do recommend doing a backup anyways just in case something goes wrong with your computer at any point, you don’t want to lose your documents or family photos down the road.
-Windows 10 will be compatible with a mouse, touch screen and touch pads, and it will be released on July 29th
You will have a year to upgrade for free, the price after that has not been announced, it could continue to be free to upgrade or it could cost an arm and a leg so upgrading before that deadline is definitely advisable.
Windows is confident in this release and has taken their time to make sure that they do things right without rushing to meet any deadlines so you should be confident about installing the upgrade.
Clicking Reserve your free upgrade will automatically download windows 10 when it comes out , once windows has been downloaded it will ask you if you want to upgrade, at this point simply save and close any open documents, update your backup if you have one (recommended) and let it do its’ thing.
